What Is Fear?
The Beginning: Year 1 at Fun Mountain
Fear began with a simple, terrifying idea: unleash the undead on Winnipeg. Our first year featured a zombie chase at Fun Mountain—and thousands of unsuspecting souls discovered what it felt like to be hunted through the dark. It was raw, chaotic, and unforgettable. Fear had arrived with just 2 weeks of planning and 7 sold out nights.
Adrenaline Adventures: Zombies & Coffins (Years 2 & 3)
The next two years pushed the boundaries even further. At Adrenaline Adventures, we introduced zombie escape games and even the first coffin escape in MB—where the brave (or foolish) locked themselves inside, only to claw their way out in terror. Word spread quickly: this was unlike anything Manitoba had ever seen.
The Warehouse Years: Fire and Ashes (Year 4)
Year 4 took us into a massive warehouse—the largest production yet. With sprawling sets, high-end makeup, and movie-level atmosphere, we transformed a cold industrial space into a nightmare realm.
But six months after the event, the warehouse burned to the ground. Everything was lost. Fear itself was left in ashes.
Fear 5: Reinvention in the Shadows (2021)
In 2021, during the uncertainty of COVID, we returned with Fear 5—smaller in scale, but sharper in spirit. It was here we perfected our formula: psychological horror blended with fun, chaos, and unpredictability.
Guests weren’t just walking through haunted sets; they were immersed in a living nightmare that shifted every second. Fear 5 proved that terror thrives in intimacy—and that atmosphere can be scarier than any monster.
Built by Passion, Fuelled by Community
Fear has always been more than a haunted attraction. It is a passion project—designed and run by Executive Producer Jay Hall, alongside a relentless team of horror fans, Halloween lovers, cosplayers, makeup artists, costume designers, and set builders.
Every year, we start from scratch. We never recycle the same show. That means harder work, longer hours, and countless sleepless nights—but it’s the only way to give Manitoba something truly unique.
Over the years, Fear has raised and donated over $40,000 to local charities including Siloam Mission, Winnipeg Harvest, Harvest Manitoba, and the United Way. We’ve filled U-Haul trucks with non-perishable food donations, proving that the community’s appetite for horror goes hand in hand with compassion.
Why Fear Stands Apart
Manitoba is home to many seasonal events, but nothing matches the scale, intensity, and unpredictability of Fear. From professional special effects makeup to theatrical performances, from psychological scares to heart-stopping jump moments—nothing is ever what it seems. That unpredictability is why so many guests return year after year, calling Fear the #1 horror experience in Manitoba.
As we say:
-
There is nothing to Fear but Fear itself.
-
Nothing is as it seems.
Fear 6: Blacksite – You Are the Experiment
And now, in 2025, Fear returns darker and deadlier than ever with Fear 6: Blacksite. This year, you are the experiment. For years, the Blacksite has been running sinister tests in the shadows. But now, the doors are open, and your arrival is no accident. Every scream, every decision, every step you take is part of something larger—a vicious, terrifying experiment with only one outcome: you don’t escape unchanged.
In Closing
